Here is a small bit of that story preview:
Borus adjusted Ninae’s limp body on his rigid shoulders and decided against leaving her there, instead resolving to take her with him and dump her deep within the forest. That would buy him enough time to get far enough out of the city’s reach before she could find her way back.
The terrain made his objective more complicated than he’d thought. The ground felt uneven, wet and slippery to feet long accustomed to only the cold cobblestone of the dungeon floors. His atrophied muscles threatened to buckle as he took his first shaky steps, but the smell of fresh air and the sight of the open sky invigorated him.
